Ray Heath/Edith Gooley Leadership Fund

Ray Heath was a long-serving Secretary and Treasurer of the Wellington Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Association, as well as Secretary/Treasurer of the Trust. Following his passing, a memorial fund was established through donations made in his honour.

Edith Gooley was a dedicated member of the Wellington Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Association for over thirty years. A fund in her name was created through a bequest to the Trust.

Aim

To provide grants that support people with physical disabilities in pursuing their leadership aspirations.

What the fund covers

Grants may be used for costs associated with:

  • Professional development

  • Leadership projects or activities

  • Travel, course fees, and/or additional expenses related to the above.

Eligibility

This award is open to all New Zealand citizens with a physical disability.

Conditions of application

Applicants must be permanent residents of New Zealand. Applicants must also confirm that the activity for which the award is sought was either completed in the calendar year ending 31 December immediately prior, or will be completed in the year following. Applicants must also accept that the decision of the Trust is final.

Application criteria 

  • Applicant has a physical disability or works in the field of physical disability

  • Cost of the leadership development is realistic and verified with supporting information. e.g. quotes

  • Credible Referee Statement is included

  • Medical verification of physical disability provided, where applicable.

  • Other sources of funding identified.
